Sommercamp in Ireland (Headfort summerschool)
erstellt am: 12.09.2023My trip to Ireland started at Munich airport, which was quite difficult because Ireland is not yet part of Schengen (people controls at the borders). After the flight to Dunlin, I met many other students. They were all from different countries all over Europe (Italy, Spain, France, Germany). We rode the bus for an hour before finally arriving at the Headfort boarding school. As you can see in the attached picture, the huge mansion doesn't look very inviting, but I had a very good time there. I also made a lot of friends.
Right after breakfast, which we had at 8am, we started the day with two hours of English classes. The teachers were very strict, and I learned a lot. Every day we did something together, like basketball, soccer or rugby. We also played a lot of baseball. Most of the time we were outside, although it felt like the weather changed every hour. But aside from the lessons and the fun that all the students had, we put on an interesting play about a king who lost his castle in a card game. At the end of the camp, we performed the play in front of many guests - including the headmaster of Headfort.
So, if someone asked me if I would like to go to this camp again I would not think twice about it.
I enjoy thinking back to the adventures in Ireland and I am thankful that I was able to experience that.
